Jeremiah 1 1 If a man sends away his wife and, after leaving him, she marries another man, Does the first husband come back to her? Would not the land be wholly defiled? But you have sinned with many lovers, and yet you would return to me! says the LORD. 2 2 Lift your eyes to the heights, and see, where have men not lain with you? By the waysides you waited for them like an Arab in the desert. You defiled the land by your wicked harlotry. 你举目环顾高丘．看看在什么地方你没有受过玷污？你坐在各路旁等候他们，象个在旷野里的阿刺伯人，以你淫乱和邪恶玷污了这土地。 3 Therefore the showers were withheld, the spring rain failed. But because you have a harlot's brow, you refused to blush. 为此，秋雨不降，春雨不来。你具有娼妓的面孔，仍然不知羞耻。 4 Even now do you not call me, ＂My father, you who are the bridegroom of my youth＂? 5 ＂Will he keep his wrath forever, will he hold his grudge to the end?＂ This is what you say; yet you do all the evil you can. 心想：＂他岂能永远发怒，怀恨到底？＂看，你虽如此说，却仍尽力作恶。 6 The LORD said to me in the days of King Josiah: See now what rebellious 在约史雅为王的时日里，上主对我说：＂失节的以色列所做的，你看见了没有？她上到一切高山上，走到所有的绿树下，在那里行淫。 7 And I thought, after she has done all this she will return to me. But she did not return. Then, even though her traitor sister Judah saw 我以为她作了这一切以后，会回到我这里来；但是她没有回来。她失信的姊妹犹大也看见了此事： 8 that for all the adulteries rebellious 虽然看见了我为了失节的以色列所犯的种种奸淫，而命她离去，给了她休书，她这失信的姊妹犹大却不害怕，竟然也去行淫。 9 Eager to sin, she polluted the land, committing adultery with stone and wood. 由于她轻易行淫，与石碣和木偶淫乱，玷污了这土地。 10 With all this, the traitor sister Judah did not return to me wholeheartedly, but insincerely, says the LORD. 尽管这样，她失信的姊妹犹大回到我这里来，仍不是全心，只是假意──上主的断语。＂ 11 Then the LORD said to me: Rebel 上主于是对我说：＂失节的以色列比失信的犹大，更显得正义。 12 Go, proclaim these words toward the north, and say: Return, rebel 你去向北方宣布这些话说：失节的以色列！请你归来──上主的断语──我不会对你怒容相向，因为我是仁慈的──上主的断语──我不会永远发怒， 13 Only know your guilt: how you rebelled against the LORD, your God, How you ran hither and yon to strangers (under every green tree) and would not listen to my voice, says the LORD. 只要你承认你的罪过，承认背叛了上主你的天主，在一切绿树下，与异邦神祗恣意相爱，没有听我的声音，上主的断语。 14 3 Return, rebellious children, says the LORD, for I am your Master; I will take you, one from a city, two from a clan, and bring you to 失节的子女，你们归来──上主的断语──因为我是你们的主人，我要选取你们，每城选一人，每族选二人，领你们进入熙雍； 15 I will appoint over you shepherds after my own heart, who will shepherd you wisely and prudently. 在那里给你们一些随我心意的牧者，以智慧和明智牧养你们。 16 When you multiply and become fruitful in the land, says the LORD, They will in those days no longer say, ＂The ark of the covenant of the LORD!＂ They will no longer think of it, or remember it, or miss it, or make another. 17 At that time they will call Jerusalem the LORD'S throne; there all nations will be gathered together to honor the name of the LORD at Jerusalem, and they will walk no longer in their hardhearted wickedness. 那时，人要称耶路撒冷为＂上主的御座＂，万民要奉上主的名，汇集在耶路撒冷，不再随从自己邪恶而顽固的心行事。 在那些时日内，犹大家与以色列家同行，从北方一起回到我赐给了你们祖先作基业的地内。 19 I had thought: How I should like to treat you as sons, And give you a pleasant land, a heritage most beautiful among the nations! You would call me, ＂My Father,＂ I thought, and never cease following me. 我曾想过：多么愿意待你象一个儿子，赐给你赏心悦目的土地，列国中最美好的领土，我以为你会以＂我父＂称呼我，不会转身远离我； 20 But like a woman faithless to her lover, even so have you been faithless to me, O house of Israel, says the LORD. 但是，你们，以色列家对待我，正如对自己良友不忠的妇女──上主的断语。 22 Return, rebellious children, and I will cure you of your rebelling. ＂Here we are, we now come to you because you are the LORD, our God. ＂归来！失节的子民，让我疗愈你们的失节。＂＂看，我们回到你这里，的确，你是上主，我们的天主。 23 Deceptive indeed are the hills, the thronging mountains; In the LORD, our God, alone is the salvation of Israel. 24 4 The shame-god has devoured our fathers' toil from our youth, Their sheep and their cattle, their sons and their daughters. 可耻的神祗，自我们幼年就吞噬了我们祖先的收入，他们的羊群、牛群和子女。 25 Let us lie down in our shame, let our disgrace cover us, for we have sinned against the LORD, our God, From our youth to this day, we and our fathers also; we listened not to the voice of the LORD, our God.＂ 让我们躺卧在我们耻辱中，让我们以羞惭遮盖我们，因为我们和我们的祖先，自我们幼年直到今日，得罪了上主我们的天主，从来没有听从上主我们的天主的声音。＂ Footnotes(注解) 1 [1] Such remarriage of divorced spouses was forbidden by Deut 24:1-4. Under this figure the prophet sees the presumption of Judah, the unfaithful spouse, who thinks she can return to the Lord after uniting herself to other gods. 2 [2] An Arab: a marauding nomad who lay in wait for caravans. 3 [14-18] A remnant of Israel (Jeremiah 3:14) will reunite with Judah (18). The elementary cult of the Lord represented by the ark of the covenant will now be replaced by a more deeply spiritual and universal alliance, symbolized by his throne in the ideal Jerusalem around which all nations will be gathered together (Jeremiah 3:17). 4 [24] Shame-god: literally, shame, a term commonly substituted for Baal, the Canaanite god with many local shrines. |
