Deuteronomy 1 ＂These then are the commandments, the statutes and decrees which the LORD, your God, has ordered that you be taught to observe in the land into which you are crossing for conquest, 以下是上主你们的天主吩咐我教给你们的诫命、法令和规则，叫你们在过河后去占领的地内遵行， 2 so that you and your son and your grandson may fear the LORD, your God, and keep, throughout the days of your lives, all his statutes and commandments which I enjoin on you, and thus have long life. 好使你和你的子子孙孙，终生日日敬畏上主你的天主，遵守我吩咐你的一切法令和诫命，使你获享长寿。 3 Hear then, 以色列！你要听，且谨守遵行，好使你在流奶流蜜的地方，获得幸福，人数增多，如上主你祖先的天主所许给你的。 4 1 ＂Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone! 以色列！你要听：上主我们的天主，是唯一的上主。 5 Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. 你当全心、全灵、全力，爱上主你的天主。 6 Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today. 我今天吩咐你的这些话，你应牢记在心， 7 Drill them into your children. Speak of them at home and abroad, whether you are busy or at rest. 并将这些话灌输给你的子女。不论你住在家里，或在路上行走，或卧或立，常应讲论这些话； 8 2 Bind them at your wrist as a sign and let them be as a pendant on your forehead. 又该系在你的手上，当作标记；悬在额上，当作徽号； 9 Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates. 刻在你住宅的门框上和门扇上。 10 ＂When the LORD, your God, brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that he would give you, a land with fine, large cities that you did not build, 上主你的天主，几时领你进入他向你的祖先亚巴郎、依撒格和雅各伯起誓，要赐给你的地方，那里有高大壮观的城邑，而不是你所建造的； 11 with houses full of goods of all sorts that you did not garner, with cisterns that you did not dig, with vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant; and when, therefore, you eat your fill, 有充满各样宝物的住宅，而不是你装满的；有蓄水池，而不是你挖掘的；有葡萄园和橄榄树林，而不是你栽植的；──当你吃饱时， 12 take care not to forget the LORD, who brought you out of the 你应留心，不要忘了领你由埃及地，为奴之家，出来的上主。 13 3 The LORD, your God, shall you fear; him shall you serve, and by his name shall you swear. 你要敬畏上主你的天主，只事奉他，只以他的名起誓。 14 You shall not follow other gods, such as those of the surrounding nations, 不可追随别的神，即你们四周民族的神， 15 lest the wrath of the LORD, your God, flare up against you and he destroy you from the face of the land; for the LORD, your God, who is in your midst, is a jealous God. 因为在你中间的上主你的天主，是忌邪的天主，免得上主你的天主发怒，将你由地上消灭。 16 ＂You shall not put the LORD, your God, to the test, as you did at Massah. 你们不可试探上主你们的天主，如同在玛撒试探了他一样。 17 But keep the commandments of the LORD, your God, and the ordinances and statutes he has enjoined on you. 应谨慎遵守上主你们天主所吩咐你的诫命、教训和法令。 18 Do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that you may, according to his word, prosper, and may enter in and possess the good land which the LORD promised on oath to your fathers, 应做上主眼中视为正义和美善的事，使你能获得幸福，能去占领上主誓许与你祖先的那块肥美的土地， 19 thrusting all your enemies out of your way. 能由你面前驱逐你的一切仇敌，如上主所应许的。 20 ＂Later on, when your son asks you what these ordinances, statutes and decrees mean which the LORD, our God, has enjoined on you, 假使日后你的儿子问你说：＂上主我们的天主吩咐你们的这些教训、法令和规则，究竟有什么意思？＂ 21 you shall say to your son, 'We were once slaves of Pharaoh in 你应对你的儿子说：我们曾在埃及作过法郎的奴隶，上主却以大能的手将我们由埃及领了出来。 22 and wrought before our eyes signs and wonders, great and dire, against 上主在我们的眼前，对埃及，对法郎和他全家，行了轰轰烈烈的神迹和奇事； 23 He brought us from there to lead us into the land he promised on oath to our fathers, and to give it to us. 将我们从那里领出来，领我们进入他誓许给我们的祖先，要赐给我们的土地。 24 Therefore, the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes in fear of the LORD, our God, that we may always have as prosperous and happy a life as we have today; 那时，上主吩咐我们遵行这一切法令，为敬畏上主我们的天主，为使我们时时得享幸福，得保生命，就如今日一样。 25 and our justice before the LORD, our God, is to consist in carefully observing all these commandments he has enjoined on us.' 我们在上主我们的天主面前，照他所吩咐我们的，谨慎遵行这一切诫命，就是我们的义德。 Footnotes(注解) 1 [4-5] This passage contains the basic principle of the whole Mosaic law, the keynote of the Book of Deuteronomy: since the Lord alone is God, we must love him with an undivided heart. Christ cited these words as ＂the greatest and the first commandment,＂ embracing in itself the whole law of God (Matthew 22:37, 38 and parallels). 2 [8] Bind them . . . as a sign: these injunctions were probably meant merely in a figurative sense; cf Exodus 13:9, 16. However, the later Jews understood them literally, and tied on their wrists and foreheads ＂phylacteries,＂ boxes containing strips of parchment on which these words were inscribed; cf Matthew 23:5. 3 [13] Him shall you serve: here, to ＂serve＂ God means especially to ＂worship＂ him; in this sense it is quoted by our Lord (Matthew 4:10) as an argument against worshiping the devil. |
