Numbers 1 1 The whole Israelite community arrived in the 以色列子民全会众于正月来到了亲旷野，人民就在卡德士住下了。米黎盎在那里死了，也就埋葬在那里。 2 As the community had no water, they held a council against Moses and Aaron. 会众没有人水喝，就聚在一起反抗梅瑟和亚郎。 3 The people contended with Moses, exclaiming, ＂Would that we too had perished with our kinsmen in the LORD'S presence! 民众同梅瑟争辩说：＂巴不得我们的兄弟在上主面前死去时，我们也死了！ 4 Why have you brought the LORD'S community into this desert where we and our livestock are dying? 为什么你们领上主的会众来到这旷野里，叫我们和我们的牲畜都死在这里？ 5 Why did you lead us out of 为什么你们使我们由埃及上来，领我们来到这样坏的地方？这地方不但没有粮食，没有无花果，没有葡萄，没有石榴，而且连喝的水也没有！＂ 6 But Moses and Aaron went away from the assembly to the entrance of the meeting tent, where they fell prostrate. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to them, 梅瑟和亚郎遂离开会众，来到会幕门口，俯伏在地；上主的荣耀遂发显给他们。 上主吩咐梅瑟说： 8 ＂Take the staff and assemble the community, you and your brother Aaron, and in their presence order the rock to yield its waters. From the rock you shall bring forth water for the community and their livestock to drink.＂ ＂你拿上棍杖，然后你和你的兄弟亚郎召集会众，当着他们眼前对这盘石发命，叫盘石流水。这样你便可使水由盘石中给他们流出，给会众和他们的牲畜喝＂。 9 So Moses took the staff from its place before the LORD, as he was ordered. 梅瑟就照上主吩咐他的，由上主面前拿了棍杖。 10 He and Aaron assembled the community in front of the rock, where he said to them, ＂Listen to me, you rebels! Are we to bring water for you out of this rock?＂ 梅瑟和亚郎召集会众来到盘石前，对他们说：＂你们这些叛徒，听着！我们岂能从这盘石中给你们引出水来？＂ 11 2 Then, raising his hand, Moses struck the rock twice with his staff, and water gushed out in abundance for the community and their livestock to drink. 梅瑟遂举起手来，用棍杖打了盘石两次，才有大量的水涌出，会众和他们的牲畜都喝够了。 12 3 But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, ＂Because you were not faithful to me in showing forth my sanctity before the Israelites, you shall not lead this community into the land I will give them.＂ 上主却对梅瑟和亚郎说：＂因为你们没有相信我，使我在以色列子民眼前被尊为圣，所以你们不得领这会众进入我赐给他们的土地。＂ 13 These are the waters of Meribah, where the Israelites contended against the LORD, and where he revealed his sanctity among them. 这就是默黎巴水的来历，因为以色列子民在那里与上主争辩过，上主因而显示了自己的圣德。 14 4 From Kadesh Moses sent men to the king of Edom with the message: ＂Your brother Israel has this to say: You know of all the hardships that have befallen us, 梅瑟由卡德士派遗使者去见厄东王说：＂你的兄弟以色列这样说：你知道我们所遭遇的一切困难。 15 how our fathers went down to 我们的祖先下到了埃及。我们在埃及住了很久，埃及人虐待了我们和我们的祖先。 16 and how, when we cried to the LORD, he heard our cry and sent an angel who led us out of 我们曾向上主呼号，他俯听了我们的呼声，派来了一位使者，领我们出离了埃及。看，我们现在就在你边境上的卡德士城， 17 5 Kindly let us pass through your country. We will not cross any fields or vineyards, nor drink any well water, but we will go straight along the royal road without turning to the right or to the left, until we have passed through your territory.＂ 求你让我们由你的境内经过；我们决不会踏过庄田或葡萄园，也不喝井里的水，只走王道，不偏右，也不偏左；直至走过你的国境。＂ 18 But Edom answered him, ＂You shall not pass through here; if you do, I will advance against you with the sword.＂ 厄东却答复说：＂不准你由我这里经过，不然，我要以刀相迎。＂ 19 The Israelites insisted, ＂We want only to go up along the highway. If we or our livestock drink any of your water, we will pay for it. Surely there is no harm in merely letting us march through.＂ 以色列子民再对他说：＂我们只沿大路走，我们和我们的牲畜若喝了你的水，我们愿付钱；只求步行经过这点小事＂。 20 But Edom still said, ＂No, you shall not pass through,＂ and advanced against them with a large and heavily armed force. 他仍然说：＂不准你经过。＂厄东即领大队人马和武装部队出迎。 21 Therefore, since 厄东既然不让以色列由他境内经过，以色列就从那里折回。 22 6 Setting out from Kadesh, the whole Israelite community came to 以色列子民全会众由卡德士起程，来到了曷尔山。 23 There at 在厄东国界的了曷尔山上，上主对梅瑟和亚郎说： 24 ＂Aaron is about to be taken to his people; he shall not enter the land I am giving to the Israelites, because you both rebelled against my commandment at the waters of Meribah. ＂亚郎要归到他祖先那里去，他不能进入我赐给以色列子民的地方，因为你们在默黎巴取水的事上，违背了我的训令。 25 Take Aaron and his son Eleazar and bring them up on 你带亚郎和他的儿子厄肋阿匝尔，一同上曷尔山上去， 26 Then strip Aaron of his garments and put them on his son Eleazar; for there Aaron shall be taken in death.＂ 将亚郎的长袍脱下，给他的儿子厄肋阿匝尔穿上，因为亚郎要被召归去，死在那里。＂ 27 Moses did as the LORD commanded. When they had climbed 梅瑟就照上主吩咐的做了。当着全会众的面，他们上了曷尔山。 28 Moses stripped Aaron of his garments and put them on his son Eleazar. Then Aaron died there on top of the mountain. When Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain, 梅瑟把亚郎的长袍脱下，给他的儿子厄肋阿匝尔穿上，亚郎就在山顶死了。以后梅瑟和厄肋阿匝尔由山上下来。 29 all the community understood that Aaron had passed away; and for thirty days the whole house of 全会众知道亚郎死了，以色列全家为亚郎举哀三十天。 Footnotes(注解) 1 [1] The first month: we would expect the mention also of the day and of the year (after the exodus) when this took place; cf similar dates in Numbers 1:1; 10:11; 33:38; Deut 1:3. Here the full date seems to have been lost. Probably the Israelites arrived in Kadesh in the third year after the exodus. Cf Deut 1:46.
